CHARACTER INFO
Character: Sakata Kintoki
Canon: Fate/Grand Order post Tunguska
Age: 25
Background Information: Wiki
Personality: Kintoki is bright, friendly, arrogant, and holds a strong sense of justice. While not necessarily viewing the world as purely black and white, he does have a very strong idea of what is right, and what is wrong. And will often go out of his way to help those in need, or to do what he feels is the right thing to do. In that regard Kintoki is steadfast in his beliefs and never really wavers from them, even in the face of adversity. However, he is rather hardheaded, and not quite the brightest at times. He isn’t one to stand by and off to the sidelines and will usually rush headfirst into things whenever possible. Far preferring action first and planning second. He would much rather settle things in a more open and fair manner. As opposed to schemes and attempts to trick his opponents. Something he absolutely abhors, even more so after the death of Shuten.
1) Tell us about who your character is and what someone’s first impression would be upon meeting them.
Kintoki comes off as bright and cheerful, and is often constantly smiling, and greeting his master with a laugh and grin. Or even, in some cases, greeting sworn enemies with a friendly air around him, such as in a dialogue he has with Ibaraki. Where he energetically says hello and takes out a handful of chocolate he had been given, knowing that Ibaraki would be able to easily steal them and run off with the sweets (something he laughed off). He has an open personality and isn’t too afraid to say what’s on his mind. He’s kind of arrogant, and a bit of a musclehead. But is otherwise incredibly friendly, and often helpful and protective of others. Upon first meeting him, a person can expect to see someone with a near constant smile on his face, a friendly pair of eyes, and as someone more than ready to chat up a storm. Or, in some cases, more than willing to help them out if they’re trying to escape from trouble. As can be evidenced in the Heian chapter, where he puts his own wellbeing on the line to help protect the Protagonist from his own comrade in arms, Tsuna.
Despite having only just met the MC and knowing next to nothing about them. Other than that, they needed help. And that it was his duty to help them, no matter what trouble they might be in. In short, on first meeting him, Kintoki is friendly, protective, always willing to trust others, and is more than happy to chat.
2) What is a driving force your character has? What goals do they have, what motivates them, etc?
Kintoki is motivated both by personal independence, and a strong sense of what he views as right and wrong. As such, he will often follow along with those ideals in search of personal freedom and the assurance that others are treated fair and just. His goals are largely centered around just that and mainly surmounts to making the world a much more golden place.
The main factor for this drive would be his upbringing under Raikou. Having been taken in under the samurai after living in the wilds with little contact with others besides his ogre mother and the animals around him. Kintoki was quick to pick up on the motherly love that Raikou had given him, and the lessons she taught him. Filling a much-needed niche that he hadn’t had in his early childhood. One of kindness, warmth, education, and human affection. Here he had learned right from wrong, what made a person human, while developing his strong sense of justice and chivalry. Under Raikou’s tutelage as his adoptive mother all of those motivations, all of his drive, began to mold and take shape. Furthered along by the time and space he had been living in. Taking an example from her and striving to emulate Raikou, before joining her as one of her Heavenly Kings in hunting oni and upholding peace in the capital. Here people were tormented by oni and other, monstrous creatures, including the human sort, that would prey on the innocent.
This was made especially more evident within the Heian Lostbelt chapter. Where the Protagonist, Ritsuka, often finds themselves under threat by the monsters roaming the streets of the city, as well as that of more human opponents, namely Tsuna. Such a backdrop only strengthened Kintoki’s resolve to help others, and further hammered home Raikou’s teachings on the importance of being just, fair, and doing what is right.
Kintoki still held onto that rowdy sense of independence from his time living in the wild. Something that grew all the stronger as Kintoki grew older, shown by his insistence in spending large amounts of time away from home and his mother. It would also, ironically, be Raikou’s intense motherly instinct and overbearing love, that would mix with his growth into a young man and that before-mentioned childhood in the mountains, that would only further strengthen his desire for personal independence. In short, while he does take inspiration from his mother figure, Raikou, Kintoki still draws on his own, personal strength and experiences to mold himself. Showing that he isn’t beholden to Raikou’s shadow and will often affectionately call her “Boss” (much to Raikou’s chagrin). And takes pride in his wish to seek his own life and way in the world.
3) What are their flaws as a character? What is something they've messed up, or have done that they regret?
While he isn’t exactly easy to fool, Kintoki doesn’t always think things through immediately, or put much immediate thought into things. Preferring to see them at face value first and then coming up with a more long-term plan after. Again, while he had been taught by Raikou, Kintoki had still spent much of his younger years growing up in the mountains without a formal education, or being around people, until a little later in life. As such, he is still rather rough around the edges at times when it comes to social interactions, particularly those that might be romantic, as seen in one dialogue line where he becomes tongue-tied while talking to an unknown, pretty woman. Or again, when speaking with Shuten and either becoming flustered by her or misinterpreting her advances as a desire to spar.
He is headstrong with an ego (potentially born from his undeniable, insane strength and skills passed onto him by Raikou) to match. While at the same time the above-mentioned ideals can sometimes lead to heartache. One example being his part in the death of Shuten Douji, an oni with whom he held complex ties with, and held more complex feelings towards.
Having known the oni since he was young, Kintoki was quick to develop romantic feelings for her. Falling in love and spending much of his time with her, first when she was disguised as a beautiful woman, then later when she revealed her true self. Granted he remained on his toes with the knowledge that one wrong slip could lead to his own death. This all came to an end when Raikou was ordered to kill the oni on Mt. Ooe that had been terrorizing the capital. Among them was Shuten Douji, the second in command and strongest among them.
But rather than face her head on and honorably, Raikou and her warriors decided to trick the oni. Giving them wine that had been drugged. A massacre ensued after all had been weakened or asleep. It was said that Raikou had been the one to slay Shuten, however, it is heavily implied in canon that Kintoki had been the one to perform the final blow. Killing the one he loved instead. Knowing that they couldn’t let her go free (his sense of justice and desire to protect others wouldn’t allow him to free her anyway), but also wishing to face her one last time. Not able to bear the thought of seeing her killed without first facing her, even if it wasn’t a more desired, fair fight. This was confirmed later when Shuten attempts to tease Kintoki with her death, holding it over his head and playing on his guilt over his actions. Something that does manage to get a rise out of him and cause him to tell her to stop. Showing it as being his one, major, regret and something that would continue to persistently haunt him. Leading to his one mentioned wish in the Rashomon event, being to reunite with Shuten again.
4) Optional: What is something unique and interesting about them, or what is a fun little tidbit that sets them apart from the crowd?
Kintoki is incredibly fond of animals, children, and mothers! And, of course, gold. Not necessarily for it’s monetary or cultural values. But also, because it’s his own, personal belief that gold is a reflection of all things good in the world! To the point where he often insists on being referred to as simply “Golden”. Not because he doesn’t like his own name, but because he feels that “Golden” is a good reflection of his own, inner personality. He is also related to the god Amaterasu, and the son of a cannable mountain witch and the red dragon god Raijin.
Has a soft spot for mothers and children and is considered a protector of kids.
Abilities & Inventory:
(Taken from wiki)
Class Skills
Mad Enhancement (E Rank): Normally does not receive the benefits of Mad Enhancement. In exchange, he retains a normal capacity to think. A Luck Check is performed whenever damage is received, failure results in him going wild and parameters excepting Mana and Luck being raised. On that occasion, his whole body becomes red.
Divinity (D Rank): Because there is a theory which states that he is the child of Raijin, a thunder deity, Kintoki possesses Divine Spirit aptitude. Because his mother was a man-eating mountain witch, the rank is low. It will rarely activate as resistance in regards to the attack of Heroic Spirits that possess thunder deity-lineage roots and legends. Although a normal Servant would have their Spirit Core eaten away by Nikola Tesla's Activated Fog, Kintoki was able to resist it. After a while however, a few cracks started forming in his core.
Personal Skills
Monstrous Strength (A+ Rank): Rank ups his Strength parameter. While originally a Skill possessed by monsters, as Kintoki is the child of Raijin as a Red Dragon and the cannibal Yamauba, he displays a high Rank by carrying the former Skill to the extreme.
Natural Body (A Rank): Born with a perfect (golden) body as a life form. A plus modiffier is bestowed to his Strength. Furthermore, even without training his muscles are brawny and his body shape doesn't change no matter how much calories he intakes.
Animal Communication (C Rank): Enables mutual understanding with animals that don’t possess language. Since it's not like the intellect of the animals improve, very complex nuances are not conveyed. Even then, maybe because Kintoki's mental structure is close to animals, they strangely get into a mutual understanding.
Noble Phantasm (Ultimate): Golden Spark
Items: His GOLDEN axe, pair of sunglasses, clothes on his back. I’m going with his Heian look for this one.

Paladins
I thought about Corsairs due to their more free nature. But Kintoki is firmly on the side of lawful good. As such, I feel like he would be a better fit with the Paladins. I don’t believe his sense of justice will allow him to do just anything and everything, and may even cause him to play by the rules… most of the time.
